Aptech, the global education & training company, organised a student talk show, ‘Employer or Employee: Which choice for Vietnamese Youth?’ on July 9, 2016 at Hanoi. The event aimed at giving a multi-dimensional view on start-ups in Vietnam, and help students prepare for their future career. Over 250 students attended the event.

Vietnam has a population of 92 million people. In 2015, the total number of Internet users in Vietnam was around 44 million, and is predicted to be more than 59 million by 2019. This indicates tremendous market potential for the IT industry, and the future of IT start-ups in Vietnam is bright.

At the event, Pravir Arora, executive VP (Aptech Limited) said, “There is no right or wrong time to plan a start-up, as long as you have a good idea & a feasible plan that meets the market's requirements. Start-ups build confident and mature people, and help them to achieve their goals.”

The Vietnam government is currently building a sustainable & advanced ecosystem for start-ups. In June 2013, Ministry of Science & Technology launched a project called Vietnam Silicon Valley (VSV) to help connect start-ups with each other for counselling, support & knowledge-sharing.

According to Arora, “Technology is the basic platform for everything in our lives nowadays. Hence, IT industry and opportunities for young people to have a start-up are very promising. Everybody can learn IT and be successful. The key to success for today’s youth is not about knowledge or skills, but the attitude. Be humble & determined in everything you do.”

The talk show saw an enthusiastic participation by students as they showered the panel with questions.
